ROCKLAND (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Rockland police officer was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Thursday afternoon.
Rockland Police told FOX 25 that the officer was driving on Liberty Street with his sirens on responding to reports of a person down when he was struck by another driver.
The female driver was driving west on Water Street and heard the sirens; however, she did not know where they were coming from. She then collided with the cruiser.
Rescue crews responded to the scene to extricate the officer who was taken to South Shore Hospital with hip and knee pain.
The woman who was able to get out of her vehicle without assistance was taken to a different area hospital.
Accident reconstruction is on scene. No charges have been filed.
