Ever since the town of Rockland has had firefighters, the Rockland Fire Department has been supporting local heroes, war veterans, fallen firefighters, and their families by participating in parades, funerals, and memorial services. The members of the Rockland Firefighters Local #1602 decided that a formal Honor Guard would better represent the Rockland Fire Department and in the spring of 1990 the Rockland Firefighters Local #1602 “Honor Guard” was formed. The Honor Guard is fully funded and supported by the Rockland Firefighters Local #1602.
The Honor Guard is comprised of several dedicated and devoted members of the fire department who donate their time to represent the Rockland Fire Department.
Over the years, several changes in the uniform and standards have formed the Honor Guard into the well respected, award winning honor guard that you see today.
The Honor Guard has not only had countless appearances throughout Massachusetts and New England, but has also attended firefighter memorial services in New York, Washington DC, as well as the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Colorado. The Honor Guard also had the great privilege to appear in the motion picture “Ladder 49.”
The members of the Rockland Firefighters Local #1602 are very proud of their Honor Guard and will always strive to reach the highest standards of professionalism possible.
